21 Oct 2009Regardless of where we live, our houses are the place that we store our most precious items. We try hard to assemble the nice things in life and want them to be safe at our homes. We lock our doors and windows when we leave or when we go to bed at night to be certain we and our possessions are safe. If you live in an apartment, a residence security system is a neat idea.
There are different rules for which types of alarm systems you can have in a house. If wires need to be run and a hole must be drilled to run the line, the alarm company will have to get authorization from the owner. If the owner doesn’t give them the authorization that they need , your decisions in the alarm system might be limited.
As long as the landlord gives the authorization you can get an alarm system just like someone who lived in a house. You may have monitors on your doors and windows which will alert the alarm company if someone makes an attempt to break in. In most cases you will have a key pad just inside the door that’ll be used to arm and disable the alarm system.
All that you need to do is punch in a code as you leave the loft and shut the door behind you. The alarm will then be armed. When you return home you will unlock the door and instantly go to the alarm box and punch in a code to unarm it.
If somebody was to try and break into the apartment, a particularly loud alarm will sound and alert the neighbors that there is an intruder. The alarm company will also get notice and will instantly call the authorities and have them come to your residence to provide assistance.
If the alarm is set off on accident, say you forget to bump in the code after you open the door, you’ll need to contact the alarm company and tell them that it isn’t an emergency situation and that you are alright. Be careful because some alarm firms charge an additional fee for a false alarm call.
Installing a residence alarm system will help you keep your belongings and friends safe from the perpetrators that will come to your door or window. All you need to do is check with the landlord to work out if they have any restrictions on the type of alarm that you can install.
