Two very nice keywords to exploit

Nov 5, 2008 Author: Zigfred Diaz | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

With the help of another blogger, I discovered two interesting keywords these are no other than “derivatives” of Google itself or should I say where “Google” was derived from. Those key words are Googel and Googol.

Keywords are very important to bloggers and webmasters because it will bring them more traffic. The more traffic you have the more page impressions you will have, the more chances of people clicking your ads and the more chances of you selling products. Whatever kind of commercial activities that a blogger or webmaster is involved whether it is pay per click, pay per impression pay per visit, pay per whatsoever or selling affiliate products, the most important thing is the traffic. In short more traffic means more money.

A blogger or a webmaster must ensure that he gets a lot of traffic especially traffic from the search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN, three of the world’s biggest search engines. More traffic from the search engines, more money online.

When somebody googles a word they click the first spot and if they get what they are looking for they loose interst in all others. If they don’t they simply move down to the next on the list. That is the reason it must be made sure your website or blog is in the first 3 pages or if possible in the first top 10 in the search engine’s first page. If your website is on the 100th page, then most likely people making a search engine search will not go to your site.

The key is to make sure that your blog or website sustains a high volume of traffic always. One way is to make sure that your blog or website is competing for the right and proper keywords.

Getting the right keyword is not easy. There are thousands of keywords and some of the really good ones have a lot of competition. In order to know this type a keyword in google and look at the upper right hand of the page. Take for example when you type the phrase “making money online” you get more than 18 million results. You can see that the chances of you making it to the top ten in this keyword is really slim.

It is not enough that you ensure that the keywords you choose does not have a lot of competition. You must make sure that such keywords have a high search volume. This means they are being searched by several number of people. This is to make sure that all your hard work for optimizing a keyword will truly count. You can achieve this by going to google trends and typing the keyword. If after typing the keyword it produces a graph, then said keyword is one with a high search volume.

Most bloggers say you have to search for “high-trend but low-dense keyword.”

Going back to the main topic, Googel is one high-trend but low-dense keyword that bloggers must take advantage of. If you look at the graph in google trends it has sustained a huge and increasing number of searches since 2004. This shows that it is a high-trend keyword. It is considered as low dense sense as of the time of this writing it is only referenced by 860,000 blogs or websites. In other words competing for this keyword is not so difficult.

Googel’s “brother” “Googol” may not have an impressive graph in google trends. But the fact of the matter is that it is a high trend keyword as it has made it in google trends. However you may be impressed with Googol’s density as it is only 468,000 as of the time of this writing compared to Googel’s 800,000 plus.

So do whatever you have to do to take advantage of the keywords Googel and Googol to bring more traffic to your blog or website right now !

Low Cost Web Hosting and Other Sorts Of Stupidities

Nov 5, 2008 Author: Ricardo d Argence | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

Web hosting services are so common now it seems like everyone has one. Not meaning this is a wrong way, trust me, competition is something I truly believe in. But, it seems there are people who think that they don’t need to know anything about developing and maintaining a business, to start their own web hosting business.

Those who surprise me the most are the ones that offer hosting services at ridiculous prices. You can find people offering web hosting for $1 a year. Yes, you read right, one dollar for an entire year of service. If you consider that the prices of established providers go from $60 to $100 a year for a basic service, this will sound very attractive, but is it really?

Let’s do some simple math. Hypothetically speaking a reasonable amount of clients a provider should get while having a small web hosting business is 1,000. If the owner sells his services at a buck each, he will bring in a outstanding $1,000 in just one year. Do you believe he can offer quality service, support and upgrades for this price? I am hard pressed to think he will have enough for food alone!

It can still be a good business if you get enough clients, some will say. Ok, just because I’m in a good mood, let’s continue with this example. Imagine this provider-for-a-dollar can get 10,000 customers, a very ambitious goal. Then it’s $10,000 dollars of income. Do you really think a business can make it with this income for a year? Just imagine the cost associated with servicing 10,000 clients. Just the cost of rent, phone lines and power would be enough to deplete this small income.

As ever, the human mind is marvelous and searches for a solution. Clients that buy these services reason that if they get the deal for a year, it doesn’t matter if the provider goes out of business next year, which is most likely. They already got the service almost for free. And again I ask, is this true?

All access to your email addresses, website material, etc. will be lost if your provider goes bankrupt. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already registered your domain through another provider because even in the best case it will take a at the very least a couple of days for new service to begin. That is, if you didn’t commit the error of obtaining your domain title from the identical provider.

In that case, you may even lose your domain name and will have to get a new one. Imagine the time wasted just notifying all your clients about your new email address. What if you lost important emails and documents too? Do you think this is worth the risk?

When you purchase your next web hosting service, think about the support services offered, the speed at which emails and telephone calls are answered and the amount of time that service provider has been operational. Of course you should always check the price too but, beware; a price that sounds too good to be true usually is.

If you are set on buying one of these services for a buck, we will be content in helping you once your provider goes away, hoping it isn’t broken to bad.

Blog Promotion The Amazing Power of Good Content

Place Articles On Your Own Website

When you have generated several articles either by having them written for you or writing them yourself, you are ready to put them online so that you can start getting readers. The best place to start of course is your own website.

There are different ways to use articles to get visitors coming and returning to your website. In this article I’ll talk about the benefits of using your own articles on your own website. I’ll tell you what they will do for your website and how they effect your traffic.

Content Is King

In the world of Internet marketing, content is king. Providing a number of articles that are free for your visitors to view, read, and distribute is a great way to increase visibility, improve your website rank, earn more return visitors, and convert more visitors to paying customers.

But why is content king?

Articles of good quality are what provides the incentive for visitors to return to your website. You could have thousands of pages but without good content it will not matter how many pages you have.

You may have heard about the importance of confusing techno-terms like metatags and metadescriptions. These are functions of your website’s HTML coding; hidden text that doesn’t appear on the screen when your site is being viewed. However, these cryptic tags don’t matter as much now as they used to.

Search engines crawl the web indexing every page they find, don’t pay much attention to metatags. Importance is given to the website’s content than everything else. Your hard work or your investment in written articles pays off. The more quality content you have catalogued on your website, the more money you will make.

Don’t expect your website to shoot to Google’s top ten the minute you put up your fresh new articles. Search engines take time to update the vast amount of information available on the web. However, the sooner you get started, the sooner you will start to see improved results on search engines for your website. Once your information is catalogued, you can remain high in the results ranking as long as you keep updating your website with fresh content.

When content is not enough: You need to build trust with your customers. Some webmasters post a flurry of content to their websites, and then wonder why the business isn’t pouring in. The reason, in a word, is trust.

You will need to build trust in order to be a successful Internet marketer. Providing free, high quality information for visitors is a start, but it is not enough. Many consumers must be exposed to your business three to seven times before they’ll consider making a purchase.

Do Not Overlook Article Relevancy

Nov 4, 2008 Author: David McCammon | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

You have to keep your articles relevant to the general subject of your website. Failure to do this will cause you to lose search engine value as well as visitor credibility.

What do we mean by relevant?

“Related to” is what we mean by “relevant.” Any subject that you can relate in some way to your business can be relevant in an article. For instance, say you were selling a business start up kit, you should come up with related ideas that will satisfy search engines and humans:

How to get a startup loan

How to get a startup loan

Basic equipment business startups need

The pitfalls of starting a small business

Basic equipment business startups need

Internet versus brick-and-mortar startup business

How to get a startup loan

This is not a complete list of course. Any website about small business can generate a large number of articles with content that’s relevant.

So what if you sell something like dog treats?

It can be harder to determine relevant content when dealing with niche markets. If your subject is very limited, consider including in the subject of your articles other areas that may be of interest to visitors.

In the above example it is safe to assume that most of your readers and prospects are dog owners. So given that consideration, there are lots of topics you can write or otherwise acquire that will keep readers interested and brand you an expert. For example:

Pet grooming tips

Housebreaking tips for puppies

The best dog breeds for households with children

Housebreaking tips for puppies

Whether dogs should wear sweaters

How to vacation with your dog

Shelters versus pet stores

You will notice that all of these topics are a natural extension of the main business. That would be dogs and dog owners. Since each of them is related to the website, a mention of homeade dog treats can be included naturally in each article.

Finding relevant topics

If it’s hard to come up with relevant article subjects, try using a keyword tool to get more ideas. There are several free and useful keyword generators that can kickstart the thinking process and reveal topics you might not have thought of.

Why good content is important

Nov 2, 2008 Author: Zigfred Diaz | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

Believe it or not a youtube vidoe entitled “Charlie bit me” got more than 6 million views worldwide. It has inspired several spoofs featuring not so cute adults mimicking the innocent, unrehearsed acts of two children.

The video has been added about 9 months ago, the exact date is May 22, 2007. To date, it has received a total of 7,764 comments and has been “favorited “43,030 times.

Around 106,000 website has wrote about or featured the video. So popular is the video that in fact, search for it has reached a high amount of volume. As a result, statistics for it is made available at google trends. (Note that Google trends shows searches only when it has become so popular)

The phrase “Charlie bit me” itself has been exploited by several webmasters and several venture capitalist to get more traffic into their website or blogs. The mother of the boys commented that “I have noticed that the phrase Charlie bit me is catching on and people are trying to profit of it . . .”

Not to be left behind by bloggers and other business minded person, the parents has started to do something about the income opportunity that can be derived from the popular phrase and the considerable amount of traffic brought about by the popular youtube video. “Charlie bit me” t-shirts are now made available by the parents in an online store.

I don’t blame the parents. After all it’s their kids and they were the one who uploaded the video. They should be the first to benefit from the popularity and the high volume of traffic that the video has brought.

The video is certainly cute and the British accent adds to its appeal. (Most spoof videos of “Charlie bit me” are not cute at all; in fact I would go to the extent of calling some of them dumb)

If we were to learn something from this “Charlie bit me phenomenon” or “Charlie bit me craze” only one lesson comes into mind and that is CONTENT IS STILL KING. It’s still “The content stupid” no matter what other Search Engine Optimization (SEO) gurus say. Majority of “Charlie bit me” fans know about the video through verbal recommendations. Undoubtedly, “Charlie bit me” fans did not know about the video by searching for “funny videos” in the search engines. It is also quite obvious that the parents of these kid did not do some advertisement, or tried to increase their back links, released several press releases, bought some articles or bought text link or google ads to increase their traffic. The reason why the “Charlie bit me” video has become so popular is because people go crazy over the content. They love it so much. It’s funny and its so cute. I am not saying that we should not give importance to SEO strategies and techniques. What I am saying is that we must realize that in the end, high volume sustainable traffic to your site is mainly due to rich content.

Any by the way, if you really like the video I highly recommend that you get a “Charlie bit me” shirt.

How To Drive Easy Free Traffic To Your Website

Nov 2, 2008 Author: Brian Armstrong | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

Before any website can get sales, it must get traffic. The whole “build it and they will come” doesn’t work with the internet. I used to own the domain name “vwbus.com” and it got about 40 to 50 visitors a day by people simply typing that in to see what was there. That is the exception to the rule, however. Most sites have to leverage other sites with existing traffic in order to get started. Here are a few ways that you can get some free traffic and leverage these sites that can get you the traffic.

Blogging is one of the easiest ways to get free traffic, but like any other website, you still have to get traffic to the main blog. However, blogs have a major advantage over regular websites because they have an RSS feed built in. Also, depending on which blogging platform you use, there are some instant advantages because if you use wordpress.com, the domain tends to rank very well with the search engines. Also, Google owns Blogger.com and has a tendency to “hang out” on their own properties looking for new updated content.

There are several social bookmarking sites, such as Digg.com and Del.icio.us and other sites like this. You can “bookmark” your own blog posts and other pages to help them get ranked in the search engines. Often times these social bookmarking “tag” pages will get ranked as well. Although this isn’t a direct link, these pages can serve as bridge pages with links back to your site and these pages rank also rank very well with the search engines.

There are dozens of places on the internet that you can create mini-sites or individual pages. These sites typically will allow you to post whatever content you want to post including your own RSS feeds from your blog, other websites, articles, video or whatever else you’d like to create in these pages. The main key to success with these types of sites is to make sure that you’re posting links back to your website, especially the deep links. Those RSS feeds included in the mini-sites or pages are a great way to get links back to your site. Also, create an individual text links using html or even images.

Articles are an excellent way to get high quality links back to your website which will generate visitors as well as search engine benefits. The search engines reward relevant links and articles represent the most relevant pages simply because you are in charge of the content of every article. So, if you’re trying to get your site ranked for a specific keyword phrase, you can create articles on these topics and use the resource box or author profile to link back to your website using keywords for which you’re trying to get ranked.

What would probably be considered the original “Web 2.0″ would be forums. Anything where you can interact in a community type setting with something topical or niche specific. Many forums will allow you to add a signature to the end of each of your postings. Depending on the forum, you can put a link back to your website, usually using whatever keywords you want to. Depending on your contributions in the forums as well as the call to action in your signature, you’ll get visits to your site as well as the search engine benefit of having those keyword phrases linked back to your website.

Many blogs get a lot of traffic and with the comments you can add on a lot these blogs, you’ll get people clicking through to your website. There are also what are called “dofollow” blogs that will help you with your search engine optimization as well.

Getting free traffic, or even paying for traffic is just the start to making sales and making money. These techniques can be used for non-ecommerce related sites as well.

Link Cloak and no follow

Oct 31, 2008 Author: Rick Dupont | Filed under: Search Engine Optimization

Internet mentors will tell you that you need to keep ahead of the game. One important thing you should note is link cloaking and no follow tags.

Without the use of these little wonders you will stay an also ran on the internet, so expend a little extra time and read this article and you will succeed.

Link Cloaking

This is an absolute must if you don’t want to have your hard earned visitors cut out the middle man and go straight through to the destination.Simply by adding some simple code, JavaScript you can cloak your link and keep your customers. There are many ways to do this but why not search for a cloaking script that does it online for free.

No Follow Tags

The heavy amount of traffic on the internet these days it is hard to get noticed. It is unfortunate that when you add a link to your page, google will follow it, this can deplete the rank of your page, meaning, it will lose its popularity.

The only reason to add a no follow is so that the search engines will not deviate around your page and going to another destination.

So one important thing todo is when making a cloaked link why not add a no follow tag this way you have the best of both worlds.

It will take time to do both these actions and to find the programs to enable you to do it. These programs can be quite costly if you cannot find free ones on the internet.

But as with anything online there could be a free alternative so have a search and look for a script that does both, it cloaks the destination and it also makes the link no follow and keeps your page rank.

If you can locate a good script, you should be able to instantly set up your page with cloaked links and no follow. Just rememeber to set up ALL your links with properly formatted alternatives.
