Here are some do’s and don’ts and common mistakes people make when designing their gift cards.

Standard or Custom Designs?

After you have teamed up with a gift card provider to help launch your program, you will discuss various design options. One of the questions will be whether you want a custom card design or whether you can utilize a standard design. Custom cards help marry your existing marketing initiatives and branding as completely as possible.

Standard designs, on the other hand, are ready-made designs that your gift card supplier has in stock. Many gift card providers have designs that cater to specific categories of business. Therefore, they do not have to be bland. These standard designs also can be personalized by adding your business name, website and telephone numbers and even a logo (but usually in a single color).

So which is right for your business? There are some things to consider before making your choice. With standard cards, your job is pretty easy — select your card design from your choices and determine how to personalize it. For the custom card, however, there are more choices. If you have an existing agency that handles your creative work, you will likely work with them to create your design. If not, you will work directly with the supplier. Some suppliers may even have their own in-house creative departments to help you with your design. Either way, you will need to provide the designers some direction. You may need to supply them with some of your existing artwork so that they can base their designs on your current branding. Some additional Do’s and Don’ts for providing you artwork:

1. DON’T take the art from your website. These graphics often aren’t of high enough resolution to use for printing.

2. DON’T provide graphic images that need to be enlarged from their existing size. This lowers the quality. As you make the image bigger, the resolution gradually decreases.

3. DON’T utilize previously printed images. Art that has been printed commercially has been converted into small “dots” that create the image. When you reprint these previously printed images, you often get a moire pattern that makes for poor quality images.

4. DO try and use original computer files from which you have printed other pieces. These original files will be perfectly clear and will allow the designer to more quickly and effectively create a quality design.

5. DON’T clutter your design with too much info. It’s a very common error that people make, trying to hit every marketing point. Keep the design simple to keep your visual impact high.

6. DO utilize your logo. Carry your branding through to your design. Your logo is recognizable to your customers, and your gift card acts as a small billboard. Take advantage of your logo.

7. DO consider customized merchandising tools to complement your card design. A custom gift card affixed to a custom-designed carrier or card hanger presents a coordinated, attractive package that has a higher perceived value that will increase card sales.

When I first started out, was generating revenue important? Yes, of course, but I also knew building a long term profitable business was more important.

To be able to secure a profitable business long term I had to made the sacrifice of early profits. Instead I gave away what I did have, time and exchanged it for products, services, JV opportunities, all kinds of things.

I utilized the time I did have and started volunteering at and for anyone I could. Any help someone needed marketing, I would do. I would write for people. I would volunteer at events. Although this did not give me immediate profits, what I was doing was building relationships with key people, who would help my career in the long run.

So in the beginning, you have to work a little bit harder and you have got to be a little bit more creative in order to get what it is that you want, but you got to know exactly what it is that you want.

The problem for many is they don’t do this, then they end up going in circles. When you are starting out I really want to encourage you to really think about what you are looking to do. Do you want to generate revenue? If yest, find creative methods to generate revenue in a short period of time.

If building relationships to help you secure long-term profitability, rather than generating revenue right away, you need to focus on creative ways to connect with people and build those relationships.

Everything really boils down to what you want to be focused on at the start. Building your list may be important to you, so find creative ways to build that list and focus on that. Building relationships and getting building your list is important to start off with in my opinon, because that is what will carry you on in the future.

When starting your business off on a tight budget, you really have to focus down into what you are looking to do and accomplish. Secondly, really tap into your creativity, it will move you beyond your excuse of not having money to do something and help you find alternative solutions to get by. It may take a little longer or seem different, but once you find your creative side the end is limitless.

Experienced affiliate marketers will visit ebay in their search for a hot selling product. Go to Ebay Pulse to find the products that are the most searched for on Ebay. You can even drill down through the categories to find which product is the hot seller in your niche. Once you have several ideas, take them back to Google and Yahoo and run them through their paces.

With a little practice, you’ll soon find that locating those hot niches is not that hard. What is hard is getting enough time to promote your products and services! It just seems there’s not enough hours in a day when you’re wanting to tell the World about your hot product.

In Bwindi there are currently three groups we are allowed to interact with. The permits go on sale one year in advance. The most popular times are during the summer vacation months of July and August and if this is when you plan to travel we should book your permits well in advance. We handle the permit booking for you.
